The Science of the Bible

How did the Sun Stand Still and How did the Moon Stop?

The day the sun stood still, Joshua 10:12-14

"Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, be silent and stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, in the Valley of Ajalon! And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

There was no day like it before or since, when the Lord heeded the voice of a man. For the Lord fought for Israel." AMP

Why should I go to Church service?

This is a million dollar question!

It’s like asking a soldier after enlisting in the Army before going to war is it necessary to go through boot camp. The purpose of boot camp is to learn the fundamentals of being a soldier. Likewise, we are the Church, and  there are certain spiritual disciplines must be learn as a Christian in order to be healthy, as well as ministry to God, believers, and the world.

In the book of Hebrews 10:25 the Apostle Paul states: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”. The verb “forsaking” is in the Greek present tense indicating action happening continuously in the present. It is in this verse Paul encourages his readers not to quit meeting together daily, as a few were doing. For example, when a believer discontinues going to Church service on a regular basis. In a sense this is equivalent to desertions, missing in action (MIA) or temporary unaccounted for (TUF).
